Landslide Investigation Using Seismic Refraction Tomography Method: A Review

چکیده
Since the early 1960s, near-surface seismic refraction tomography (SRT) has been extensively used as a non-invasive and cost-effective geophysical method to characterize complex geological structures for landslide investigation. This technique is able slope material, sliding surface's geometry, mass movement, physical properties of media, water saturation effects on slope. Therefore, this become an appropriate due increasing progress novel algorithms improvements field-data collection systems. In paper, we attempt review essential research that investigated various types landslides influenced by materials identified in areas, since year 2000. Significant conclusions obtained applying different survey strategies data processing surveys are widely discussed concentrating advantages disadvantages method. The main results few available studies time-lapse SRT (TLSRT) particularly analyzed.

Landslide investigation study using seismic refraction and 2D electrical resistivity imaging (ERI) technique in Ooty, Nilgiri District, Tamilnadu
The aim of this paper is to investigate landslide prone areas in Nilgiri hills which have caused damage to people and properties and to devise preventive steps to be taken in the events of future landslides. Our study area was situated at Ooty region, Nilgiri District, Tamilnadu. In this study we use the seismic refraction survey carried out across landslides located near the villages in Allanc...
متن کاملApplication of Seismic Refraction Tomography to Karst Cavities
For three years we have used synthetic and field data to investigate the effectiveness of commercial refraction tomography codes on both simple and complex subsurface velocity structures, with the ultimate goal of determining the suitability of the method for karst problems. The results of these studies indicate that refraction tomography is able to resolve karst features under some conditions....
متن کاملdetection of underground tunnels using electrical resistivity and refraction seismic tomography methods
geophysical techniques remain the only ways to remotely and non-destructively sense the earth’s near subsurface and as such have the most promising prospect for rapid and accurate detection of underground tunnels. today, electrical resistivity and seismic refraction geophysical methods have been greatly developed to identify structures and underground cavities. in this study, the ability of the...
متن کاملSeismic attenuation tomography using the frequency shift method
We present a method for estimating seismic attenuation based on frequency shift data. In most natural materials, seismic attenuation increases with frequency. The high-frequency components of the seismic signal are attenuated more rapidly than the low-frequency components as waves propagate. As a result, the centroid of the signal’s spectrum experiences a downshift during propagation. Under the...
متن کاملAn Ensemble Model for Co-Seismic Landslide Susceptibility Using GIS and Random Forest Method
The Mw 7.8 Gorkha earthquake of 25 April 2015 triggered thousands of landslides in the central part of the Nepal Himalayas. The main goal of this study was to generate an ensemble-based map of co-seismic landslide susceptibility in Sindhupalchowk District using model comparison and combination strands. A total of 2194 co-seismic landslides were identified and were randomly split into 1536 (~70%...
